Rentguard launches home plus – a complete household insurance product

Rentguard Insurance has launched a new product called Home Plus underwritten by Ageas Insurance Limited and Royal and Sun Alliance Insurance.

The product is aimed at home owners and provides complete and comprehensive household insurance for mid to high net properties worth up to £2.5 million for buildings and £500,000 for contents.

Available through brokers and intermediaries, Home Plus allows homeowners to choose the level of cover required from:

  • Buildings; or
  • Household contents, fine art and antiques and valuables; or
  • Buildings and household contents, fine art and antiques and valuables


Buildings cover is provided on an all risks basis with additional benefits including alternative accommodation for a maximum period of 36 months, building works up to a contract value of £75,000, damage caused by domestic pets, and locating the source of a water leak up to £20,000 in total.

Household contents, fine art and antiques and valuables are covered whilst in your home or anywhere in the world.

Specific extensions under this section include the cost of retrieving your personal electronic data as a result of loss or damage up to £10,000 for any one claim. Credit cards for which you are responsible for the loss are also covered up to £10,000 for any one claim.

Further extensions include the personal possessions of any student members of your family under the age of 26 who normally reside at home but who are travelling outside of the UK between university or college term years.

Gifts and presents are covered up to 45 days before and after a wedding, birthday, anniversary or religious festival.

Loss of rent, replacement locks, pedal cycles, student possessions, visitors and domestic employees personal effects, money, marquees and freezer contents are also covered.

There are a few unique covers provided by the Home Plus product, including golfer’s hole-in-one which offers £500 if you achieve a Hole in One in an official golf club competition.

If the artist of a piece of art owned by you becomes deceased, the increased value to said piece of art would be automatically increased under the sums insured.

“The Home Plus Insurance product is aimed at properties worth £250,000 or above which is why the cover ranges from the essential Buildings and Contents cover to more unique and tailored protection which wouldn’t be found in your average home insurance policy,” said Rentguard Director Steve Jones.
